DO NOT USE! THIS SOFTWARE IS NO LONGER BEING SUPPORTED!

Availability

The Umich Kerberos v4 Web Authentication plug-in (version 1.3) should work for Netscape 3.x, Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x and higher.

Note: these are currently in beta testing and may change at any time!
Additionally, there is a Kerberos v4 patch for lynx-2.7.1 available.

Requirements

The plug-in requires that you already have Kerberos installed on your client machine (AuthMan for Macintosh, Kerb95 for Windows, etc.). Your browser must also have support for cookies and Javascript (Netscape 3.x and higher).

Installation

Macintosh: Download the plug-in by clicking on the link above. Move the plug-in into the "Plug-ins" folder within your "Netscape Navigator" folder. Quit and restart Netscape. You need to have AuthMan installed.

Windows: Download the plug-in by clicking on the link above. Move the plug-in into the "Plug-ins" folder within your "Netscape Navigator" folder. Quit and restart your browser. You need to have Kerb95 installed and in your PATH.

Unix: Download the plug-in by clicking on the link above. Move the plug-in into your ~/.netscape/plugins directory. Quit and restart your browser.

Usage

The plug-in will automatically be invoked by your browser to handle Kerberos authentication for restricted URLs on your behalf. If you already have a ticket-granting ticket on your client machine, you will not need to type any passwords at all.

Troubleshooting

Check to see if the plug-in is loaded by going to the internal URL about:plugins. If not, you may have installed the plug-in incorrectly. Make sure Kerberos works on your machine.
