From PackageThf@aol.com Wed Jan 22 21:45:24 1997 Date: Wed, 22 Jan 1997 15:49:29 -0500 (EST) From: PackageThf@aol.com Subject: running water Hello and welcome to another edition of the Superchunk Internationale (e)Mailing List. (no mailers for a month and then two in a week and a half...what can I say?) If you're new to the list, welcome. Just some brief updates... >In the first week of December, Seven Brides For The Meatwagon performed their annual show. For those of you who don't know, Seven Brides... is Jon Wurster, Jim Wilbur, and some of their friends who get together once a year to perform the buzz bin songs of the year - in the worst way possible. Targets this year included: Jewel's "Who's Gonna Save Your Soul," Oasis' "Champagne Supernova" and "What's The Story Morning Glory," Alanis Morissette's "Ironic," Beck's "Devil's Haircut," Superdrag's "Who Sucked Out The Feeling," Spacehog's "In the Meantime," and a Son Volt tune (the only real homage of the evening). >In other news, here are some cool record releases, Superchunk and otherwise - since I know many of you like these other bands.... (all releases approx.) Feb. 11 - Pavement (LP): Brighten The Corners Feb. 25 - the soundtrack to Suburbia on Geffen Records (with the Superchunk song "Does Your Hometown Care?"); also includes Beck, Sonic Youth, and S.M. from Pavement and Elastica dueting on a X cover! Feb. ? - A new Team Dresch 7" ("Team Dresch Beta Version 6.0") Mar. 11 - a new Portastatic album >RJARERO@panam1.panam.edu has started a web page devoted to Superchunk bootlegs and how to get them. The site will feature a sound clip (in Wave format (GSM 6.10, 22,050 Hz, Mono)) from the bootlegs; a new one each week. The site address is: http://w3.panam.edu/~rjarero/superchunk.html >speaking of live stuff, from Eereecanal: there is a live sound clip of silverleaf on this page: http://www.cenfl.com/jeffrey/kickbright/cncrtoct.html it is from a show in orlando on their last tour. >On a final note, a rumor has arisen on the internet (certainly not on this list!) that Jon Wurster rents pornography. As a response, I have an official statement from Mr. Wurster: "Jon Wurster vehemently denies that he has ever rented pornography. He welcomes close scrutiny of his video rental records at Zisart. However, he has appeared in over 70 adult films (available near a video store near you)." ----- That's all for now.... If you have any things you'd like to discuss (either with me or with the list), please just email me. Also, if you have any address changes, please send them to me as soon as possible - I appreciate it.
