From PackageThf@aol.com Wed Jan 15 23:16:56 1997 Date: Tue, 14 Jan 1997 03:43:19 -0500 (EST) From: PackageThf@aol.com Subject: digging in the permafrost Hello and welcome to another mailing from the Superchunk Internationale (e)Mailing List. If you're new to the list, welcome! Sorry in the delay from last month to this month, but there was winter break, the holidays, etc. (in other words, please cut me some slack). First off, some recording news: Superchunk is currently writing songs - they're planning on recording in spring with a possible album release date of Sept. 7. Okay, I know that's a long way away but, to hold you over: (approx) Feb. 21 - the soundtrack to Suburbia on Geffen Records (with the Superchunk song "Does Your Hometown Care?") (approx) Mar. 11 - a new Portastatic album plus probably a new single in August from the Chunk before the album comes out... also, you might have had a problem trying to connect to the Here With Superchunk website - the server went down - but, not to worry, it's back up, so go and check it out! a concert review from rein01a9@frank.mtsu.edu: hey heres some info about the superchunk show in nashville tn, a month or so about, which i was at... it was an overall good show, though i don't remember it very well since it was awhile ago. but i did have the pleasure of meeting everyone including jon, and we talked about how henry rollins was 'anal' and a 'tightass', but it was all in jest. anyhow, at the end of the show i was in the front, and mac grabbed the setlist and handed it to me, and left...the set was...driveway, skipsteps1&3,onthemouth,mower,hyperenough,iron on,eastern terminal, what do i?,whydoyouhavetoputadate...,cast iron, detroithasasky...,throwing things, and the encores of like afool, then 100,000 fireflies and then precision auto. it was an over all good show...mac, "this sounds really bad, like i'm singing through a towel" jim, "maybe its just your crappy voice" mac- was taking a drink of water, but spits on jim.....also, mac drops and breaks a beer bottle onstage and makes a mess...not much else i can think of off the top of my head...... various info from mthomo@iinet.net.au: Smudge are actually fronted by Tom Morgan who Co Wrote most of the last two (not including the latest) Lemonheads albums. Unless of course Mr Dalton made a special appearance, which would have been way cool. Also, anyone who wants some pics from Superchunk's Perth show email me and I'll mail em! info from RJARERO@panam1.panam.edu: Here is some neat Superchunk stuff to go look at: 1. The whole band photo from Spin online is avaliable at http://www.nd.edu/~cvivar/pics/schunk1.jpg 2. There is an interesting article about Merge and other Superchunk related anecdotes at: http://bostonphoenix.com/alt1/archive/music/reviews/07-11-96/MERGE.html 3. The Troma Website finally got around to placing the Hyper Enough sample on their page. It's a 30 second sample on the song in Wave format. It has lots of possibilities, you could use it as background music on a screen saver or as your computers startup music. It has 101 uses http://www.troma.com/tj.html - - - - - a little short, but that's what happens when the world goes on vacation for the holidays. A big thanks to everyone who's checked out my website and especially to those of you who have filled out the survey for it - i really appreciate it. also, the next issue won't be as far away as this one was from the last one.... see you soon - d a v e C H U N K O N T H E W E B here with superchunk: http://www.monkey.org/~chunk/superchunk merge records: http://www.mrg2000.com the chunk mailing list FAQ: http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/2605/chunkfaq.html
