Subj: tie a rope to the back of the bus Date: 09/11/95 I have it - the new CHUNK - and I have heard it. It's great (of course), although I would have liked to have seen it rock out just a little more. It's in the same vein as Foolish. Some of the songs have sounds different than what you'd expect from the chunk, but not too much. The cd is 11 songs in 48 minutes: 1. Hyper Enough 2. Silverleaf and Snowy Tears 3. Yeah, It's Beautiful Here Too 4. Iron On 5. Sunshine State 6. Detroit Has A Skyline (twice as fast and twice as loud as the single, acoustic version - this version rocks through the song and adds a guitar segment at the end.) 7. Eastern Terminal 8. Animated Airplaines Over Germany 9. Green Flowers, Blue Fish 10. Here's Where The Strings Come In (the chunk breaks the pattern by actually putting the title track on the album, instead of on a single, like with "foolish" and "on the mouth") 11. Certain Stars (5min.+ rocker!) Here's the blurb on the promo copy: "Superchunk is Mac, Jon, Jim, and Laura, that much you should know. They've been around for 6 years, releasing scads of singles and a half dozen albums on Matador Records and Merge, the Chapel Hill label run by the Superchunk axis of Mac and Laura. Here's Where The Strings Come In follows closely their excellent singles and B-sides compilation, Incidental Music 1991-95, and "Hyper Enough", the first, frantic single from Here's Where The Strings Come In. ...Strings... was recorded at Fort Apache Studios in Boston and is quite possible their largest record yet. As usual, big guitars and flying everywhere, as are monstrous hooks and energy to spare. The album veers between the pogo-worthy pop/punk you've come to expect and fairly sweeping epics to make grown men weep...punk out and enjoy!" Also, look for the CHUNK in this month's issue of Raygun, the one with the flaming lips on the cover.
