MOO, February 1996, Big Bulls of 1995 section (notables of 1995) SUPERCHUNK Here's Where The Strings Come In Merge Perhaps a true test of a record's quality is longevity, i.e., how long do you listen to the thing before you toss it into the sell-back pile? Here's Where The Strings Come In is a spotty outing, but damn if I'm not still playing it just about every day. This great band's maturation process continues, and with that comes some inconsistency; songs like "Sunshine State" and "Green Flowers, Blue Fish" are, for this mighty outfit, merely serviceable. But the ones that are more than that the stunning "Iron On," the exhilarating "Detroit Has A Skyline" and more than a few others rank with the combo's best, and that means something, at least to a fanatic like me. And it should to you, too. Matt Hickey
