Thought for the Day

"Though we are not now that strength which in old days moved Earth and Heaven,
that which we are, we are.
One equal temper of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, but strong in will.
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

Alfred Lord Tennyson, in Ulysses

In 2000 I received my PhD in the Computer Science and Engineering program in the Dept. of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Michigan.

I am currently working as a research scientist for Arbor Networks, Inc., which was founded by my advisor Farnam Jahanian.

My research interests include:

A list of my current and pending publications is available. I'm afraid the list is outdated and incomplete. I am working to add my remaining publications soon.

In my off-time, I play saxophone in the Johnstown Cats, a local swing band. I also get together with the Ann Arbor Gaming Group, a local informal gaming group mostly dedicated to playing board games, especially German-style board games. I also keep an occasional live journal.

In March, 2001, my wife and I bought our first house.

I graduated in 1994 from Duke University with a BSE in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. Click to see some lovely pictures of the Gothic Wonderland. Go Duke!

I spent the intervening year living in a Catholic Worker House in Kansas City, MO, as part of the Lasallian Volnteer Program run by the de La Salle Christian Brothers. If you want to know more about the Catholic Worker or the Christian Brothers, please feel free to send me e-mail and I will be happy to answer any questions.

Here in Ann Arbor, I attend First United Methodist Church , where I sing in the choir.

"I am mighty! I have a glow you cannot see. I have a heart as big as the moon, as warm as bathwater. We're superheroes, man! We don't have time to be charming! The boots of evil were made for walking. We're watching the big picture, friend. We know the score. We are a public service, not glamour boys! Not captains of industry! Not makers of things! Keep your vulgar moneys. We are a justice sandwich, no toppings necessary! Living rooms of America, do you catch my drift? Do you . . . dig?"
