Darknet Map

Overview:

This map shows the source addresses of hosts detected by the IMS darknet network over one day in Oct 2005. (TCP packets only)

Key:

  • Each colored dot indicates a packet was detected by the darknet from that source address.
  • The color represents the destination port number (0-65536 is encoded by a hue value, red->purple->blue->green->yellow->red)
  • Black means no packet was detected from that source address.
  • The deep blue color indicates Bogon addresses.

  = Bogon Space

  • Bogons are unallocated and unroutable addresses. See Team CYMRU's Bogon list for more information.

Observations:

  • There appear to be a large number of spoofed packets due to the many packets detected from bogon space
