beauty and the street
memorial day 2004
memorial day weekend in the upper midwest, usa, was marred by bad
weather. on the way to iowa for the weekend (we flew, detroit to chicago
to dubuque) it was smooth, but on the way back we were stuck in iowa
for about 7 hours and then overnight in chicago. we weren't the only ones,
lots of flights were delayed until the next morning.
american airlines took good care of us, gave us the heads up and helped us
navigate home quickly. they even made a food run for their passengers
in iowa. we were a lot better off than many others, we didn't have to
sleep in the airport.
on the plus side, we got to see my family and some friends from highschool.
everyone's doing pretty well, they're starting families and the like.
