recipe: jalapño-lime ice

we're growing a few more jalapño peppers, now to think about what to do with them ... my sister got me the recipe book this came from some years ago. this is one of the most striking recipes in the whole book.

3 cups water
2 cups sugar
8 jalapño peppers, coarsely chopped
1 ¼ cups corsely chopped mint leaves
½ cup fresh lime juice
4 cups ice cubes
mint sprigs for garnish
lime slices, for garnish

boil the water with the sugar, jalapño peppers, mint leaves and lime juice for 25 to 30 minutes. cool slightly, strain, freeze. it should become slushy.

crush the ice cubes, blend with the jalapño-lime slush, blending until it's finely chopped. serve immediately, garnish with a sprig of fresh mint and a lime slice.
