From PackageThf@aol.com Fri Aug 1 22:58:19 1997 Date: Mon, 21 Jul 1997 01:22:54 -0400 (EDT) From: PackageThf@aol.com Subject: unbelieveable things I have seen the future and it is indoor living! But seriously, there's some serious chunk on the horizon, so I figured it would be a good idea to tell you all about it.... >>VIDEO, VIDEO: This week, Superchunk's up in NYC shooting the video for "WATERY HANDS," the first single (out now) from the forthcoming full-length "INDOOR LIVING," out September 2. The video will be directed by Phil Morrison, whose previous work has included the "Driveway to Driveway" video. He also just wrapped up shooting a the video for Yo La Tengo's "Sugarcube." The video will also feature some special guests who will be revealed at a later date... The list will warn you when MTV's going to play it (most likely on their forthcoming show "Indie Outing," which will supposedly only play bands on independent labels). >>Speaking of "Watery Hands," the water & sand epic (out now!) is backed on 7" and CD by "With Bells On," a rocking little number. Not to turn you away from vinyl, but the CD single also features the "Wet Wurlitzer" remix of "Watery Hands." The remix sounds like Portastatic (circa "Impolite Cheers") getting into a head-on collision with Superchunk, crushing Gary Numan's best synth squiggle in the middle; all the while, Mary Timony and Ash Bowie (under the guise of Led Byrd) hang out on the street corner, jamming to "The Dragon #1". Sound crazy? It is! Get it today! Order it now from Merge - Merge Records, PO Box 1235, Chapel Hill, NC, 27514 7" - $3.50, CD5 -$6.50 (price includes postage, US dollars, check or money order only; to see postage rates for outside of the US, see: http://www.mrg2000.com/merge/order.info.html) (Thanks to Chris Schneberger for advance info on this) >>MR. WURSTER RETURNS: Get the inside info on the new album, the new video, touring, and what exactly a wet wurlitzer is ALL in a new interview, coming in August. >>ALSO IN AUGUST: You'll want to make sure to check out the Here With Superchunk web site in August to see an official press release from the band complete with pictures of the band in the studio - EXCLUSIVE ONLY TO HERE WITH SUPERCHUNK!!! The List will keep you posted on when it will appear.... >>CMJ Update: The CMJ500 Box mentioned in the last issue appears to only be available to trade subscribers of the magazine. It features nearly random tracks of "college" artists, including tracks from Stone Roses, My Bloody Valentine, Spinanes, Belly, Sebadoh, Morphine, Guided by Voices, Posies... (Thanks to everyone who gave me feedback on this - Kevin, Mica, & Jon) >>CHUNK ON TOUR: Superchunk are making tenative plans to tour the US in October, more info forthcoming. Prior to that tour, though, Superchunk will be appearing at a "Superchunk and Friends" show, also featuring other Merge Luminaries, at NYC's Irving Plaza on Sept. 4. I've been told you can get the tickets online through TicketMaster at http://www.ticketmaster.com, but you should check them out for more info on that. >>CHUNK Bulletin Board: IMUSIC has just set up a Superchunk bulletin board. You can find it at: http://imusic.com/cgi-bin/bbs/bbs.cgi?x=superchunk Speaking of which, there will also be another CHUNKBB on the Here With Superchunk site (as will other wonderful new things; it is currently being overhauled and will be re-emerging soon.) Well, that's all for now! If you have questions for Jon, questions for me, an address change, or information to give to the Aliens, please write me at packagethf@aol.com Until next time... <> FOOTNOTE: I've just completely overhauled my own personal page, The Big Dave Page. In addition to new graphics and new pages (which span from music to health to politics), there's the new SOUNDZ! page, which features song clips in RealAudio from bands you've always meant to listen to, but never have; featuring songs and song clips from HUMIDIFIER (Jim from Superchunk and Jon from Spent), Halo Benders, Hagfish, Portastatic, Latimer, and others. You can find The Big Dave Page at http://members.aol.com/packagethf or the SOUNDZ! page at http://www.geocities.com/sunsetstrip/2605/soundz.html Check it out today! --------------------------- CHUNKontheWEB Write to SUPERCHUNK: superchunk@mindspring.com Here With Superchunk - http://www.monkey.org/~chunk/superchunk Merge Records - http://www.mrg2000.com/merge ChunkList FAQ - http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/2605/chunkfaq.html
