Merge does not have any currently available and it is unknown if they're going to offer it or not, it mainly depends on how many copies are left over after the AU tour. Speaking of the AU tour, here's the tour schedule once again: Nov. 15 - Brisbane - The Roxy Nov. 16 - Canberra - The Anu Bar Nov. 17 - Sydney -The Metro (2 shows that day) Nov. 20 - Perth - The Planet Nov. 22 - Adelaide - Tivoli Nov. 23 - Melbourne - Corner Hotel (2 shows that day) Nov. 25 - Auckland, New Zealand - The Power Station Scheduled to open for Superchunk is an Australian band named the First Pencil. I think the 3D's and. perhaps, a few other Aussie bands are also going to be opening for at least a few dates as well. to hear the (real) audio track of the GRIT interview with Matt of the Here With Superchunk website, the address is: http://audio.grit.com/music1021.ram a follow-up to something from the last mailer from I 25795@aol.com: The issue with the superchunk article is number 63, July/august 1995, wiith Portishead on the cover. There are photos of Superchunk in concert (a little on the small side though) also has photos of Butterglory, both avaliable at: http://www.pitt.edu/~ljfst8/bands.htm 3. Also contains a picture of Mac screaming into a microphone and scans of the album covers, so visit it anyway at: http://www.tripnet.se/magazine_groove/superchu.htm a letter from Sargent_Kevin/furman@furman.edu: Greetings fellow Chunksters! This is my first and long overdue submission to the mailing list. I had the good fortune to be in Chapel Hill for graduate school when "Chunk became "Super" and the whole crazy cool thing got started. I have been a devoted fan ever since and PackageThf's work with the mailing list and Matt Ransford's with the web page have made that all the easier. Many thanks to both those guys. Anyway, I'd though I'd check in on the October 25th kickoff of the "Scouring the South" tour in Charleston. All and all I can report another great time. (Surprise, surprise). It was at a place called The Music Farm that was located pretty near the historical district in Charleston. I'd never been there before, but it turned out to be a decent spot for live music - above average sound. Since I got there early, I had the chance to have a nice long talk with Laura. We have gotten to be acquaintances if not friends over the years so we mostly just did small talk. She said she had been very busy with merge since the last tour, that they were looking forward to Australia, and that the hurricane had spared most of the members of the band. (Unlike others of our mutual friends in tarheel country). She was basically just as classy and unbelievably beautiful as ever. OK, on with the show .The playlist was as follows: throwing things - punch me harder - iron on - silver leaves and snowy tears - untied - cast iron - hyper enough - like a fool - here's where the strings come in - driveway to driveway - animated airplane over Germany - from the curve - the first part encores: slack motherfucker and fishing (Mac moved onto the drums haflway through, and Jon finished off the vocals. Very fun.) As I said, either the audio dynamics of the club or the quality of the equipment made for above average sound, though, as usual, I was pressed against the stage in front of Laura so mainly heard the monitor feed. The set was solid and edgy. Probably since it was the first tour show in awhile everyone seemed ready to go. Mac was especially charged even more twists and jumps than usual and adding little riffs all over the place. After "Hyper enough" I looked up at Laura, pointed at Mac and said "Talk about hyper!" She laughed. As far as banter, Jim did bring up that Laura and Mac had had a big fight on stage the last time they had played in South Carolina (3 years ago in Columbia). Neither of the looked real amused. Otherwise, there wasn t a lot said just good, hard playin . Anyway, anyone reading this list knows the superchunk experience. I was a little surprised that they didn t play anything off the new EP maybe just waiting for later in the tour. - Kevin Sargent - Furman University (thanks to AJMCDON@VM.SC.EDU and dunscomd@edisto.cofc.edu additional information on the show) to cap things off, another concert review from monkeybrown@juno.com: the tampa show was great!.....but short. with encore, superchunks set lasted only an hour. i've seen them twice before in LA, and i couldve sworn the shows were both about an hour and a half. maybe my memory isnt very good, though. anyway, speaking of memory, heres what i can remember them playing: they opened with 'driveway to driveway', went on to 'on the mouth', 'seed toss', one of the new songs 'her royal fisticuffs', 'animated airplanes over germany', 'silver leaf and snowy tears', 'iron on', 'like a fool', 'punch me harder' (needless to say, the rowdiest moshing was at about this time), and maybe a few more. for the encore they played 'mower', 'the question is how fast', and, of course, 'slack motherfucker'. mac was is usual bouncy, energetic self. laura was a statue, pretty much. jim was more quiet than i remember him being, only a few jokes this time....he was busy nursing a beer. jon & mac never switched places for a song, which ive seen before. jon did get up to apologize for missing a beat, though. - - - - - that's all for now folks. just a reminder - please send all changes in address information to packagethf@aol.com as soon as possible to keep things rolling smoothly. see y'all soon...
