After missing the ride last year I could not have been more excited for this year's
bike tour.
The bike tour was to be staged from my house this year, an added bonus I thought. Unfortunately
I really hurt myself the previous night at The Castle and made it back to my house
3 minutes before Matt and Mel arrived. I had the presence of mind to pick up beer and
donuts on the drive home that morning but I could personally handle neither in my state
of hungoverness.
People trickled in as time ticked on and I was more-or-less ready to go by 10:30. Brad,
on the other hand, didn't get to my house until 11:00 and we still had another 15 minutes of
wrenching to do on his bike before we could roll out, making this the latest bike tour, ever.
First Stop was less than a mile away at Bil's apartment for bloody marys. Four miles
down along the Huron River put us at Molly and Mike's apartment. There we were treated
with Breaking and Entering (Mike had no key, Molly was gone), beer, and Lions football.
After Mike's was about 6 miles bombing down through Ypsi to the Tap Room, arriving around 2pm,
compared to noon of years past. But who am I kidding, we were not in a hurry.
We followed the traditional route, Tap Room to BW3s to Aubrey's and Sidetracks. We started out
with 12 people, picked up Dorton at Mike's and Kristin and BW3s. From Sidetracks we cruised back
to Ann Arbor through Gallup park and Devonshire where NO ONE CRASHED. I MEAN IT.
Back in Ann Arbor we hit Fraiser's, Dominick's (mmmm Constant Buzz, good pizza too), and Mitch's for a
shot. We spent a little time in our home away from home--ABC--and even more time at
The Arena, with the Hulk and spicy cheese.
We were slowly losing people at this point and only about half of our crowd of bikers and groupies
made it to the last stop, 8-ball. I called it at 1am and headed home for the 5 hours of
sleep that I didn't get the previous night plus whatever I was due after all this
drinking and biking.
Hurrah!
