Chiagrill returns with a bang, literally. Early on in the evening we
experienced a big grease fire on the main grill and a scary poof of a ball
of gas igniting while lighting the second grill. Understandibly people were
a bit hesitant to start grilling, but the brave cooking of chia itself was
enough to sway the masses.
A half barrel of Bell's Oberon quickly lubricated the crowd and it wasn't long
before we had about 40 happy people from all walks of chia enjoying the evening:
the UofM EECS, UofM Education, West-side Drinking Authority,
Eastern Michigan, Arbor Networks, Michigan Tech Alum (and now various Ann Arbor tech
company employees), neighbors, and monkeys.
The keg bit it at 11:28pm, and it was less than an hour later that we had relocated
the party to the venerable 8Ball. Now not every chiagrill can be this interesting,
but there will be a couple more of this magnitude; I have no doubt.
