pagedaemon deadlock when filesystem full

Hello,
I have got pagedaemon deadlock when filesystem was full.
This happened several times, when some application wrote
huge log file in /var/log thus overflowing /var/log filesystem.

System may stay up for some time, but apparently freezes;
does not respond to ping etc, showing "pagedaemon: deadlock detected"
on system console. 

The problem existed on 3.3, and appears to remain in 3.3:
OpenBSD 3.3-stable (NETFORT) #1: Wed May 28 12:12:56 IST 2003

Any suggestions how to fix it (instead of rotating logs)?
