I have been having some problems with a G1 Compaq DL380's intragrated
smart array controller. Everything installs and run just fine, but
then when it gets to heavy disc I/O the whole machine just locks up
(no network, console, caps lock light, etc). I first noticed this with
some compiles and after working with it a bit have found I can
reproduce it with various heavy disk activity.
This does not happen all the time, for instance one time I can run
just one instance of bonnie and the machine will lock. In other times
3 instance of bonnie will work with no problems at all. The machine
has a default install with no other apps installed on it, so it is not
like other process would have a great effect on this.
I currently have 3.3-Rel running on the system, and have also tried
3.3-Snap from May 8th with the same results.
Anyone see anything like this in the past? Advice on where I can go
from here? If there is any info I did not put in here that would help,
just let me know.
Thanks
Jim
