I have encountered the following problem whilst running both the CD version of
OpenBSD 2.5 and the latest sparc snapshot (7th August + 11th August X11). I did
not encountered this problem with OpenBSD 2.4 whilst I was running it on the
machine.
I install the OS and start up X - all is fine. I install some ports. I can exit
from X and restart it without problem. However, if I halt the system, switch
off the Sparc 1, wait a while and switch it on again, log in as root and
attempt to start X. The command 'startx' results in the following error:
_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 2
_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 2
_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: errno = 2

giving up.
xinit: Connection refused (errno 61): unable to connect to X server
xinit: No such process (errno 3): Server error.
I could reinstall 2.4 to see if it now displays this error (indicating a
hardware fault) - is it worth doing this?
I'm afraid that I don't have the dmesg to hand but I can supply one if
required. The set up is unremarkable except that I am using a monochrome Sun
monitor, OpenBSD is on an external wide drive, and the machine is not
networked.
Any help would be much appreciated.
