error compiling -current

I am attempting to compile the -current src from freebsd 2.2.6-release
after cvsupping the src.  I cd /usr/src, type make world.. and about
five minutes into the compile, I get the error "can't cd to
/usr/src/sys/modules/nfts  **Error code 1."  How can I fix this problem?
