Blowfish library?

I'm looking to use the built-in blowfish library in some programs.
I've so far found the functions documented in blowfish(3), but they're a little
more low-level than I was hoping to have to deal with.  Is there a higher level
interface to these routines?  Am I better off using the reference libraries?
