pwd_mkdb hosed me...

I was changing the shell of a user in master.passwd. I then ran pwd_mkdb
in the etc directory with: "pwd_mkdb -p master.passwd", it wrote the
files...

When I login as any user but root it doesn't match up the UID or GID
numbers to the names nor does it let me dothings like "id" and what-not...

I copied my old master.passwd back and reinitialized the db and the
problem still persisted...

Stranger yet is that some programs (like sendmail) started to complain
about not being able to read files (sendmail.cf)...

All this after a simple shell change!!!

HELP!!!

Thanks...
