'alignment error' and 'bad crc' ?

This is on a pentium with a pci SMC network card, the 'de0'
network device is found, and is usable.

However, it is extremely slow on 10T and receives about
2-3 on average errors for every file being installed
(installing via ftp from local 10T).

For example: (replace HWA with a hardware address)

./sbin/restorede0: receive: HWA: alignment error
de0: receive: HWA: alignment error
de0: receive: HWA: alignment error
de0: receive: HWA: alignment error
de0: receive: HWA: bad crc

./sbin/routede0: receive: HWA: alignment error
de0: receive: HWA: alignment error

de0: receive: HWA: alignment error
/sbin/routedde0: receive: HWA: alignment error

...etc..and it is taking around 5 minutes for every one of those above
files to show up.

I'll probably end up restarting the install with an ne2000 clone
card .. but in the mean time, any ideas/questions/suggestions?
