Note that an ATX motherboard only contains the circuitry for the
rear panel jacks. The jack detection circuitry for the front jacks
is located on the front panel itself--and may be missing. For
instance, I have a board here where the codec supports jack detection
on all pins, and the motherboard does, but it still doesn't work
for front mic/hp, because the front panel that came with the case
doesn't seem to support it.
