Enable users to fix filesystem problems encountered by fsck in
check_fs() and unmount_fs() by restricting i/o redirection to the
reading of fstab.

Fix a typo ('succes' -> 'success').

Indent lines inside check_fs() and unmount_fs() functions.

Eliminate an unused variable _mps in check_fs().
