I wouldn't mind at all if somebody provided a service like Bill
Fenner's FreeBSD ports distfiles survey. See
http://people.freebsd.org/~fenner/portsurvey/
He also sends out mail notifications. I expect if you ask Bill
nicely, he will give you his scripts.
