notable port changes:

- another coat of whitespace/interior decorating
- showfont -> sdl-showfont patch no longer required as example program
  is no longer installed.  10x to sdl dude who proves that it is a
  small world after all in that he works w/my brother

tested on i386, macppc, sparc, & sparc64 w/said !installed showfont
program.
