png port...sf.net problems...

hello all, just for reference, I am not subscribed to ports, so please Cc:
all discussion related to this to me...

I just updated to 3.1 with a clean install. I got the ports.tar.gz from
the local mirror i was using as well. When trying to build xchat from
ports, i was getting error's with libpng. It appears that ports system is
trying to download libpng from

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/libpng/libpng-1.2.1.tar.gz and when
trying to compile/build this, it wasn't working. I played around with
it, and discovered that the libpng package being downloaded was VERY
small, and wasn't the actual package. I downloaded the REAL libpng
package with lynx from sf.net. I originally went to the URL above, which
sent me to a sf.net mirror site page, and then i got to the REAL package
through a mirror. This is what I think is messing the libpng installation
up. I downloaded the libpng package using lynx, and replaced it with the
ports downloaded package in /usr/ports/distfiles and the installation of
png went flawlessly. I am not sure if this affects ALL sf.net hosted
pages, but deffinitly png for me, any others? Anyone have any other
ports die because of this same problem.

Just wanted to let you guys know...its probably fixed in --current, if so,
just disregard and tell me so.

Josh
