It works quite fine here (-current athlon box) (as long as your remove
patch-Makefile).
It could be nice to put the sun audio output by default, I think it is
just a configuration file thing.
Adding /usr/local/{lib,include} as extra directories to configure, I
could get it to read DVDs (w/ libdvdread). It gets out of sync faster
than ogle but still is fine. 
The fact is that this port seems to try to autodetect too much things,
putting stricter defaults might be better.

By the way, are there reasons not to activate the gui and
3dnow/sse/whatever optimisation ? (I have not tried them)

A nice base to work on. Having a working multimedia player in OpenBSD
sure would be a Good Thing.
