Kmail in KDE

I can't seem to run Kmail properly.  I have told it about my email
addresses, and when I open it now, it just freezes.  Just kmail
freezes, nothing else, I can kill it with no problem.  Anyone have any
ideas?  (or expericance with kmail?)

On a side note, what kind of graphical multi-mailbox mail client do you
guys use?
