No. "-current" and "-release" relates to the code, it's not an
argument to some command.
The rules are simple :
If you're running -current the use the -current ports.
If you're running 3.0, then use the 3.0 ports.
If you're running 2.9, then use the 2.9 ports.
If you're running 2.8, then use the 2.8 ports.
etc...
