It seems like Cisco just caved on fighting the Wi-Fi/Wi-Max patent suit
brought by Wi-LAN Inc.
The first guys to get sued by Wi-LAN Inc. were Redline Communications
and they also caved into pressure back in May 2004.

I've got no clue if this stuff will actually affect OpenBSD in the long
run but when you start thinking about the possible terms under which
required firmware is released, it might become problematic (i.e.
situations where the hardware has no flashrom and the driver is expected
to load firmware from disk on every boot like the intel wi-fi nonsense).
