I wouldn't worry about this too much. You could always switch out the
PCI card to something that uses a different driver, and be glad you're
not booting a Linux kernel where you'd just have eth0 and eth1 and you
have no idea which will be which on each boot (I've read at least a few
horror stories along these lines).
