rsh/rcp

hey list,

I have some questions regarding rsh and rcp (yah i know, use ssh and scp, unfortunately its not my
decision so i'll have to make due with this). The problem I have is that the rsh and rcp starts to lose
connection and even reports 'no route to host' as soon as a few processes need to send at the same
time. I checked it with OpenBSD and solaris as destination server and the problem persists with
both targets.

The project is upgraded from OpenBSD 2.9 to 3.6, clean install, then patched and then adapting all custom programs and
scripts to the new version of OpenBSD. Everything works except the rsh connection losses. The 2.9 did
not have this problem at all which i find a bit strange. The setup is simple, machine - switch - machine,
same subnet, no firewall between. Everything is identical with the old setup, except of course the fact that
its a new server on the source side, even the cables are the same (unplug from old machine, plug in new)

As far as i can tell its only rsh that seems to be losing its connection, ping and ssh connections to the machine
all work fine. Havent noticed any other problem with the network connections either.

Normal operation of the server is: pick up message from maildir, process it and rcp the result to destination, this
happens in parallell with as many processes started until the load reaches a predefined maximum. If i increase
the allowed load then the number of failed rsh/rcp increases dramatically so it seems that concurrent rsh/rcp makes
it fail somehow.

Is there any more information i need to provide to solve this issue, any setting i can change that will solve this problem?

Thanks,
Stefan
