VM Problem with Java 1.4 with Firefox

I just did a fresh install of the latest snapshot
yesterday, and I compiled and linked the plugin for
java 1.4 tonight.

But whenever I go to a website to launch a java
related app, I receive this error (and my browser
shuts down):

Error occurred during initialization of VM
Could not reserve enough space for object heap
INTERNAL ERROR on Browser End: Could not read ack from
child process
System error?:: Resource temporarily unavailable

I did some google searching for VM related problems
with Firefox. But I could not find anything like the
problem above.

Is there a setting I can change to increase the
available space for object heap?

My swap partition is at 500M.

Thanks,

Brian

Here's my dmesg:
