This won't help; according to the source code, in
not-dial-on-demand (ie. "leased-line") mode sppp+pppoe
does *not* behave like ppp -ddial, but rather retries
a few times really quick (I think it's like 3 seconds)
then dies.
It gets up again after touching the interface, eg.
with 'ifconfig pppoe0 -link1', but this is not the
desired behaviour, so I had to use dod mode which
retries more slowly, but infinite times and without
user interaction.
