HiFn Meeting

Hi List,

I just wanted to let you know the meeting I had today with Chris Kenber
(CEO) and Russ Dietz (VP & CTO) of HiFn went very well. They are good
people, very reasonable and a lot of fun.

The primary thing OpenBSD and other open source developers need, namely
freely accessible documentation, seems to be headed in the right
direction. HiFn is going to look into changes of their internal
processes with respect to freeing up access to their docs. At the
moment, the exact details are unknown, even to them, so obviously, I can
not report them. When I know in a handful of days, I'll let the list
know.

Thanks to all the folks who took the time to respond with ideas on how
to approach the situation. Your suggestions and ideas were very helpful
in the discussion, in particular, the notes on OpenBSD's IPSec
development efforts. And yes, credit was given where due... -I let them
know explicitly that the ideas and points I mentioned were pooled from
everyone here on the list. Russ already knew, so at least now we know
someone at HiFn is keeping tabs on OpenBSD. ;-)

Kind Regards,
JCR
