I was trying from scratch (reboot) to blank a CDRW:

I should add, that xcdroast works; but takes few minutes of breaks in
between.
I had posted this delay between 'write' and actual start of writing in the
ports_(_at_)_openbsd for 3.3; when the same system behaved identically strange.
After the fresh install of 3.4 the behaviour is still unchanged.
Hope, this gives an indication to someone out there what is wrong !
