ah, well if there was something wrong with the routing then you would 
not get a reply to the initiated service from unit 1 to unit 2. 
firewall rule set maybe?

post all the need info, like rules, route print out and config files 
for networking..

also what is the default gateway on unit 2? is it the .1 or .2 address? 
if it is .2 i will not work because it is send its traffic to .2 
because 5.0.0.0/24 is not local. you would need a static route on the 
.2 box.
