Hi eveyrone, I'm having some major problems getting 3.5 to work on my Asus
a7v600 motherboard. I went through the install procedure (floppy/cdrom
downloaded from the ftp). Everything went fine, no problem with the
install.
The problem happened on first boot. Everything jams at this line in the
dmesg:
===============================
pciide0 at pci0 dev 15 function 0 "VIA VT8237 SATA rev 0x80: DMA
===============================
And after that nothing, it just hangs there... which is weird since 3.4 was
working fine. (I don't have anything conntected to the SATA.)
I went through the bios trying to find an option to disable SATA, but
nothing. I updated the BIOS with the latest from ASUS, went back in the
bios settings, still no disabling SATA. I tried to find a jumper to disable
it, nothing. Basically, I can't seem to disable SATA. And of course it
still hangs...
Does anyone have any idea what the hell is going on? Is there any way to
disable SATA on this motherboard? Is there any way to rollmyself a permade
kernel without SATA support??
Any help would be GREATLY apprecitated since this server is suppose to be up
and running for production (I was just waiting 3.5 to deliver it...errr)
Thanks in advance,
Matt
