add NIS only user

Hi :)

Is there a way using either useradd or adduser (or anything else) to add a 
user to the NIS database only.
What I'd like to do is use another file then master.passwd for storing user 
accounts (like /var/yp/master.passwd).
I know how to do this under FreeBSD, but not Open.
I would appreciate any pointer.
