Wow, thank you for your replies. They solve my problems ;-)
I am having difficulties understanding the ports concept;
I read the documentation and looked upon http://www.openbsd.org/ports.html.
However I see ports there only for 3.2 version, and I am running 3.4.
Can I use them?

I'm sorry. I may not have been very clear in my previous post. If you
make vi your command-line editor by doing set -o vi-esccomplete in your
.profile or .kshrc file, you can In ksh you can do ESC k which will allow
you to scroll through history upwards.
You can also search through history by doing ESC /<search_string>. And,
you'll be able to use ESC ESC for command completion.
You could also use bash on OpenBSD. I think it's a port on the
CD-ROM, but I'm not sure. If not, you can always download it.
