thanks Henning! that was fast :-) after seeing 9k lines of diff between
freebsd version for 4.9 and openbsd version for 3.4 i thought it was
going to be panful.
the diff does not apply to the vanilla 3.4 because there are
intermediate changes to pcidevs and if_em.c files. but after looking at
them, i found that they are *simple*. so i make it into 3.4-stable (you
know, that current thing scares me a little, so i am slacking with the
stable :-)... and it works.
