X in OpenBSD under VMWare 4.0

Greetings,

Anyone use VmWare 4.0 to run OpenBSD? I've recently upgraded from VmWare 3.2 to 4.0, while I can still run OpenBSD under 4.0 I cannot get X to work consistently like it did in 3.2. Here is my scenario. Install a fresh copy of OpenBSD 3.3 under VmWare, after installation I run X -configure to get a generic XF86Config and copy it to /etc/X11, run startx and X runs flawlessly, I can start and stop X all day long without problems. ONCE I reboot the Vm session X will never start again. See the log output below. I get the same results on VmWare 4.0 for Windows and Linux. I've googled for this issue over the past few weeks and nothing new pops up, I'm wondering if anyone else has this problem and what if anything has been done to overcome it. Thank you for your time.

_cml

log output starting X after a reboot, *note, when starting X before a reboot the only difference in the log is the following 2 lines,

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting
