If you really want to do it the easy way, try this:

pkg_add 
ftp://ftp.openbsd.org/pub/OpenBSD/3.3/packages/i386/mysql-server-3.23.55.tgz




I thought that will only install the client and you need to do a

cd /usr/ports/databases/mysql ; env SUBPACKAGE=-server make install

to install the server portion as well.
