I am attempting to install 3.2 on a box I recently aquired.

floppy32.fs panics before getting to the end of the dmesg, so I can't
exactly type pipe 'dmesg' to a file. Since the standard "The operating
system has halted. Press any key to reboot." message appears, I can't see
how to get the dmesg (other than typing the last third of it that is on the
screen).

So my question is this (obviously): how do I get the dmesg? I've searched
Google and the archives, but to no avail.

I believe you're looking for http://www.openbsd.org/faq/faq7.html#SerCon. You can make an install floppy that boots to a serial console, but I've had no problems just blindly typing in "set tty com0" at the boot prompt for troubleshooting purposes. Instructions for the boot floppy are in the archives.
