Juuso,
Thanks for updating your docs - it does you proud as a researcher that
you evolve your results and build on critism. Nowerdays this is rare.
Unfortunately, can you, in retrospect see the problem with your OpenBSD
figures:
Linux 2.2 ... 100% pppoe 95%, nc 5%
Linux 2.2 ... 50% pppoe 40%, nc 10%
Linux 2.4 ... 26% system 24%, nc 11%
NetBSD 1.6 ... 23% system 15%, nc 17%
NetBSD 1.6 ... 23% system 15%, nc 17%
FreeBSD 4.7 ... 100% ppp 80%, nc 15%, interrupt 5%
OpenBSD 3.2 ... 99% system 87%, pppoe 65%, ppp 23%, nc 7%
(I don't recall OpenBSD supporting SMP.... :-)

Subject: OpenBSD PPPoE performance test results
Hello,
Since I may have unintentionally given a wrong picture of OpenBSD's
PPPoE support in my article published on http://derbian.org/pppoe/ , I
want to clarify things a bit.
First of all, PPPoE on OpenBSD works - it was probably only a
configuration error that caused the problems we faced. I'm sorry for the
any inconvenience or spread of misinformation we might have caused.
Now that I have finished the benchmarking on OpenBSD, I have published
the updated article, which now includes information on OpenBSD's PPPoE
performance.
And what comes to FreeBSD PPPoE support, I will study it a bit more as
soon as I have time. The fact that FreeBSD has in-kernel PPPoE support
wasn't stated in their documentation in any obvious manner. The Handbook
entry about PPPoE doesn't say a word about kernelmode PPPoE.
Since I'm not subscribed to the list, please contact me directly if you
want to provide any feedback.
