one reply from sun about ultrasparc3 support

Martin,

I'm sorry you don't yet believe that we are striving to be a traditional
company that works well with the Open Source community. Most of our
efforts to date have been in the software arena, and I think some of
what you ran into was the trailing edge of Open Source awareness (in the
hardware business).

I'm not at all surprised to hear that you run BSD on SPARC. Many of my
pals in Apache tell me the same. I'm happy to help you make that
configuration run better. I only wish you guys had found me sooner, before
you got so angry with Sun. I ask you to please look at our many contributions
in the software arena and compare them to our competitors...then tell me whether
we've made any ground in your opinion of us?

Look at SunSource.net if you don't believe me.

In any case, I think we're going to make quick progress now on the SPARC
3 information needed by OpenBSD.

Thanks for writing.
