I'm running OpenBSD 3.2 as an IDS using Snort and Demarc Front-End. The
machine has a P4 2.0 proc, 256MB Ram, and 20gig HD. It is monitoring a very
active network with lots of traffic. Everything runs ok for about 36 to 48
hours and then stops. I loose access via SSH or telnet and have to go to
the console. I can then sucessfully login and the following message
appears on the screen:
Warning: mclpool limit reach: increase nmbclusters
After a little research I see that I may have to build a custom kernel
(which I've never done) to increase the nmbcluster limit. My question is
Will increasing memory and the swap file fix the problem? Or will I have to
increase the nmbcluster size? Also, is there any way to increase the limit
without having to build custom kernel?
thank you,
Ricardo Londoño
