Hello,
I've got one of these damn things
vr0 at pci0 dev 10 function 0 "VIA RhineII-2" rev 0x43: irq 10 address 00:05:5d:08:e5:d7
ukphy0 at vr0 phy 8: Generic IEEE 802.3u media interface
ukphy0: OUI 0x000580, model 0x0000, rev. 0
in one of my machines. The machine was previously running a Linux-based
firewall with "no problems" (*), it is now running i386 OpenBSD 3.2 with pf.
However, after running for a while, vr0 no longer wishes to send or receive,
and the kernel reports
Nov 17 04:13:40 darcy /bsd: vr0: watchdog timeout
Nov 17 04:13:40 darcy /bsd: vr0: watchdog timeout
Nov 17 04:13:40 darcy /bsd: vr0: reset never completed!
Nov 17 04:13:40 darcy /bsd: vr0: reset never completed!
message repeatedly.
While looking for clues, I found some other *BSD people were having the same
issues when running dhcpd(8), though this has no relevance in my case.
As all the other cards I have lying here are Realtek cards, I was hoping the
Rhine card had some hope (the source is quite explicit when it comes to the
Realtek...).
Have other people had this problem? Seems the only way I can "fix" it, is by
rebooting.
Regards,
Tor
(*) a lie; but the problems were not hardware/driver related.
