pgcc port

Port, Has anyone played with/ported the pgcc (http://www.goof.com/pcg)? Does anyone know if it's worth it? Or if it'll require a who new system? Or have I bought into the hype and am chasing shadows? I'm asking because while I under stand _why_ OBSD is compiled under i386, but the current processors can do a lot more (if the compiler is optimized for it). Thanks.
