Sydney, Australia -- 5 September, 2002 -- AUUG, the Australian UNIX
and Open Systems User Group, today assigned the inaugural Australian
Open Source Awards.
The Awards Ceremony took place during the AUUG 2002 Annual Conference
Dinner, in Melbourne. Winner of the 2002 Technology Award is Darren
Reed, for his work on ipfilter, recognising his excellence and
dedication contributing to the open source arena.
Surprised recipient of the solid gold "tux" prize statue, Reed
explained his unique relationship with the Open Source world:
"i have never considered ipfilter to be open source."
"i was doing ipfilter before open source became trendy",
"you think i'm going to change just because of a trend?"
