Hello,
This is a 3.1-release, GENERIC-kernel system, no patches, no nothing.
(Safely behind a firewall, of course, and it gets reinstalled at least
once a week!) Been through the man pages, FAQ, and archives, and I
freely admit that I'm probably missing something very basic.
I'm trying to use tip(1) to connect to a serial console on another
machine. I know that the serial port on the OpenBSD box works; I used
it as a serial console previously. I know that the null modem cable
works, and that the serial port on the remote system works -- I can
connect to both using tip(1) on a FreeBSD system, with HyperTerm on
its default settings, with just about anything except the OpenBSD box.
The remote serial port expects the usual 9600, 8-N-1 hookup.
My reading of the man page says since 9600 is the default speed, I
should just be able to do "tip tty00" and it should Just Work.
;tip -v tty00
connected
... and it hangs.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Michael
